So you’re a business owner…and you want to outsource some of your social media. But I got ya covered with these 9 easy tasks to outsource on social media.
IT DOES take a lot of time…RIGHT?!
Many business owners think that the only way to be successful on social media is to do it themselves.
Maybe you’re worried that getting help wouldn’t work – how could someone write like you or create things that fit your brand?
Or maybe you’ve tried to outsource before and didn’t have a good experience or it ended up being MORE work on you.
I GET IT, but outsourcing shouldn’t be one-size-fits-all.

Outsourcing With Purpose
Here’s the thing – handing off ALL of your social media at once is super challenging.
It varies depending on:
- The tasks you enjoy (and don’t) doing in your business.
- Your budget
- Your current level of support
And one that many people don’t consider:
Your level of comfortability with delegation.
(yep, I’m speaking to all the control freaks out there)
The first step is to know your options.
As a social media manager, online business strategist, and business owner who has outsourced (or been tasked with) these myself, that’s what I’m breaking down today.
9 Tasks You Can Outsource on Social Media for your Business
- Design
- Scheduling
- Video editing
- Repurposing
- Community engagement
- Copywriting
- Research
- Strategy
- Analysis
Let’s look at these in more depth.
—-
#1 Design
Ever made a Canva graphic?
While Canva is SUPER user-friendly, and you might be thinking, “I can totally do that myself”:
- Is that REALLY the best use of your time?
- Could someone potentially do it BETTER?
- If that was off your plate, could you increase the frequency of your content?
Here’s how to outsource this:
- Write the copy that should go on the graphic

- Create a branding guide with colors, fonts, logos, and photos of you and your products, as well as sample graphics if you have designs you have loved previously.

- Revise and give feedback
#2 Scheduling
Posting in the moment is fine if social media is your hobby, but if you want to use social media for your BUSINESS, working ahead and being able to schedule your content is ESSENTIAL.
Here are 2 ways to outsource this:
Option 1: Invest in a scheduler
Simply investing in a scheduler is already a way to outsource something that you would have been doing manually.
I use Metricool for mine (which actually has an incredible FREE VERSION so why not?!).
Option 2: Have someone schedule your content for you by:
- Providing the copy & design. I create a board on Trello that looks like this:
- Hiring someone to schedule the content to the platforms of your choice
#3 Video Editing
Since I’m a TikTok manager, I do this A LOT for my clients because EVEN IF they have time to create video content, the thing that is holding them back from ACTUALLY POSTING it, is sitting down and editing.
Here’s how to outsource this:
- Create video content
- Upload it to a shared album (Shared iCloud, Google Drive, Dropbox…)
- OUTSOURCE to someone that grabs the content and edits it
#4 Repurposing
If you’re creating content for ONE platform, let’s get the most bang-for-your-buck out of it, shall we? SO many people overlook this. You don’t want to just post the EXACT same thing everywhere, but there are ways to delegate this that will optimize the content for each platform’s best practices.
Here are 2 ways to outsource this:
Option 1: Investing in repurposing tools
2 tools I recommend to repurpose:
- Metricool for posts (you can duplicate a post & edit it so it can be used for other platforms)
- Repurpose.io for video/audio content
Option 2: Investing in someone to help you with repurposing (best is to combine this with the above) by:
- Creating video and post content for one platform (I create for TikTok and Instagram)
- Having someone do the above FOR you
This is especially helpful as well for things that can’t be scheduled through these tools (as of the time of writing this), like Facebook Reels, LinkedIn carousel posts, or short-form video content that has a sound attached.
#5 Community Engagement
Answering all the comments and DMs? It can be SUPER overwhelming.
Options for outsourcing this include finding someone (likely hourly) to:
- Engage with other accounts in your industry
- Answer questions in your Facebook group
- Respond to basic customer service inquiries in the DMs, comments, & Facebook groups
- Respond to comments
This person would need to be briefed on your brand voice and business structure.
#6 Copywriting
Hate writing captions for your posts? Or emails? Or blogs? Well, I haven’t outsourced this, but I’ve done this AS a freelancer. So…
Here’s how to outsource it:
- Get major clarity on your brand voice and target market
- Create a “copy guide” and “branding guide” that communicates the above.
- Decide what type of copy you want to outsource
- Do a (preferably paid) trial run with multiple freelancers to see who fits the vibe
- OUTSOURCE
#7 Research / Idea Generating
Doing research on your target audience, trends, and what kind of content is working well for your industry and niche… adds up a lot of time.
Here’s how to outsource this:
- Identify what research you do regularly (I do TikTok trends and content ideas for businesses in my coaching packages, for example)
- Outsource to an hourly assistant or a freelancer that has specific packages for research, depending on the level of specialty required
I offer this in my Coaching / Scripting package for TikTok ideas/strategy, for example.

#8 Strategy
Unless social media strategy is your specialty, you’re likely wasting a lot of time, effort, and sanity, trying to figure out the best way to meet your goals.
Here’s how to outsource this:
- Identify your business goals
- Identify the struggles you’re currently having with social media
- OUTSOURCE
For example, in my TikTok strategy sessions, I build a strategy for my clients that they can take and implement themselves or with their team.
#9 Audits & Analysis
One of the biggest social media mistakes I see from business owners is continually spending time doing what IS NOT WORKING.
Here’s how to outsource this (3 Ways)
Option 1: Invest in an audit
Find a specialist in social media or a specific platform, and have them audit your current performance and give you recommendations for improvement. Sometimes help from the outside looking in can give you the clarity to take needle-moving action.
Need an audit for your Instagram or TikTok account? I provide them here.
Option 2: Invest in a platform that does analytics FOR you
With the numbers sent to you, you can check em out and analyze them yourself!
I love Metricool because it legitimately sends monthly analytics to your email.
Option 3: Invest in a social media manager
Social media managers do A LOT of the above tasks, and this is just one of them.
So where do you start?
If you need a TikTok or Instagram manager, I’m your gal. My team does all of the above for my clients.
If you have a specific set of needs from the list above, you can look for:
- A social media manager that includes what you want in their monthly deliverables
- A freelancer that will work on a project basis (this is good for things like design)
- A virtual assistant that can do easy-to-learn tasks hourly
REMEMBER: START SOMEWHERE
Seriously, if you take just ONE message away let it be this: you CAN delegate aspects of your social media.
It isn’t :
- lazy.
- something ONLY you can do.
- something to ONLY do when you’re making a ton of money, you can start small.
With your time freed up for more of what YOUR SPECIFIC gifts, magic, and expertise is in your business, you’ll be able to serve more people too!
You can do this,
Allison
